This is NOT Justice: Black Lives Matter
The murder of Michael Brown, an unarmed teenager, in Ferguson, Missouri on August 9th, by Ferguson Police Darren Wilson brought long existing racial tensions in that city to a boil. While the mainstream media has long since packed up their cameras and moved on to new distractions, we, as the Black community cannot afford to allow Michael's murderer to escape justice.
While Michael Brown's killing has captured most of the attention, there have been many more unarmed Black men and women that have died at the hands of police this year. This is a list of all the UNARMED Black men and women that have died at the hands of law enforcement just THIS YEAR. A reminder that we have, in fact, NOT reached a post-racial society. Until Black lives are treated with the same value as white lives, the mantra is: Justice First, THEN Peace. |
